Veer Surendra Sai was an Indian freedom fighter who sacrificed his life fighting against the British and died in obscurity. Surendra Sai has a demi-god status in Western Odisha region. Surendar Sai and his associates Madho Singh, Kunjal Singh, Airi Singh, Bairi Sing, Uddant Sai, Ujjal Sai, Khageswar Dao, Salegram Bariha, Govind Singh, Pahar Singh, Rajee Ghasia, Kamal Singh, Hati Singh, Salik Ram Bariha, Loknath Panda/Gadtia, Mrutunjaya Panigrahi, Jagabandu Hota, Padmanave Guru, Trilochan Panigrahi and many others resisted the British and successfully protected most parts of Western Odisha region for some time from the British rule.[1] Most of them died unnoticed fighting for freedom from the British. Many of them were hanged by the British; a few died in the Cellular Jail in the Andamans. Surendar Sai himself died in Asirgarh Jail on 28 February 1884.

Sarat Pujari (8 August 1934 – 12 May 2014) was an Indian film actor, director and producer in Oriya film industry (Ollywood). He was originally from Jhaduapada, Sambalpur.

Sarat Pujari was born on 8 August 1934 at Khandapada, Nayagarh district, Odisha. His early education was completed in many schools all over Odisha. He completed his post graduation in Economics and Diploma in Paintings in Allahabad University in 1956

After completing his education he started his career as a block designer and Publicity agent. In 1959, He joined as a lecturer in Economics in Panchayat College, Bargarh which he quit in 1966. Then, He joined Tapang Light Foundery, Nayagarh as a Works Manager. For so many years he worked as the Principal of larambha College, Larambha

Sadhu Meher (born in Orissa) is an Indian actor, director, and producer .

He has performed in both Oriya and Hindi films. He primarily began his career in Hindi films like Bhuvan Shome, Ankur and Mrigaya. Later on shifted his interest towards Oriya films.He is one of the founders of Parallel Cinema in mid 80s. He won a National Film Award for Best Actor for Ankur (film).

Sabyasachi Mohapatra is an Oriya film director, writer, and producer. He was born at Lehedi, Subarnapur, Odisha, India.

He owns a production house named Mohapatra Movie Magic.

He directed his first film Bhukha in Kosali Language that won International Jury award at Gijon Film festival. Later he directed and produced couple of movies. His movie Jai Jagannatha, a mythological film, was a mega-budget released in fifteen different Indian languages.After 25 years, director Sabyasachi Mohapatra is back with Salabudha, another movie set on a rural background and focuses on the plight of the aged people in villages in the western part of the state. The film is based on a novel by renowned author Kapilesh Prasad Mohapatra (his father).
